English-Language Editor & Project Manager (Full-Time)

 Emerging Markets Political Risk Analysis (EMPRA) is looking for a native English speaker with excellent grammar and task management capacities to join our team as an English Language Editor and Project Manager. The role will involve managerial tasks in completing projects and the capacity to edit and publish content on a daily basis.

The English-Language Politics Editor and Project Manager will be a unique role that will involve both oversight of various operational tasks as well facilitate the publication and design of daily, weekly, and monthly publications. The individual will have direct involvement in the drafting of all publications and content published in English as well as in editing business proposals, website updates, and other communications (internal and external). 

The right candidate will have excellent English grammar and strong capacities to manage multiple projects at a time. Preference will be given to applicants who are interested in managing the publication of EMPRA’s early morning publications (start at 7:15 AM). 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and ensure the on-time delivery of projects (publications, presentations, consulting research, and other documents).
  • Edit documents, publications, social media content and other work published in English.
  • Perform final edits to and publish EMPRA’s morning publications (published daily before 7:45 AM daily).
  • Prepare and format documents for publication. 
  • Facilitate the publication of social media and branding content by working with the business development team.
  • Coordinate tasks with colleagues across different business areas.
  • Provide feedback and training to staff.
  • Facilitate administrative tasks when necessary.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in the humanities or social sciences.
  • At least 2 years of work experience including experience managing projects and editing.
  • Interest in Mexican politics, policy related matters, and other issues concerning Latin America. 
  • Native-level English.
  • Knowledge of Spanish.
  • Excellent capacities with Microsoft Word (particularly dealing with formats and creating templates) and other Office software. 

Favored Capacities

  • A master’s degree in one of the aforementioned subject matters.
  • Strong interest in Latin American affairs.
  • Experience in journalism.
  • Experience working with social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of any of the following platforms/software: Microsoft Office 365, Airtable, Wix, MailChimp, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite and/or Google AdWords.
  • Knowledge of Portuguese or other languages

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
