Emerging Markets Political Risk Analysis (EMPRA) is looking for a Senior Analyst with expertise in the Mexican political system and specific interest in Morena to join our team in Mexico City. The successful candidate’s day-to-day work will include conducting research, drafting reports, holding meetings with clients, and other tasks related to providing political risk analysis to EMPRA’s clients. The successful candidate will have a deep knowledge of Mexico’s political system, proven relationships and/or access to key stakeholders and a strong understanding of the inner workings of the Morena party.


  • Lead research and analysis of Mexican political developments at the local and national level
  • Write in-depth reports, identifying, assessing and forecasting political risks for EMPRA’s clients
  • Draft and deliver presentations on the dynamics of Morena and Mexican politics
  • Work with the Head of Research to expand coverage of Mexican politics and determine where value can be added to EMPRA’s research projects
  • Periodically research and report on other areas including education or health policy, infrastructure, public security, etc.
  • Attend conferences and meetings with policy experts and decision-makers
  • Develop a continuously expanding database of contacts in the Mexican political arena
  • Contribute to other EMPRA projects and services when necessary 



  • 3+ years of experience in politics, political risk consulting, journalism, or a related area
  • Previous research experience in Mexican politics
  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, or a related field (master’s degree strongly preferred, but not required). Applications from candidates with other areas of education experience will be accepted but they must present a deep understanding of Mexico’s political system as well as significant experience in the field
  • Experience drafting and presenting presentations on complicated subjects
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (namely the capacity to draft and edit documents in English)
  • Strong communication skills (including the ability to meet with clients and deliver presentations)
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite as well as G Suite
  • Experience with one or more econometrics programs
  • Ability to adapt to changing work requirements and adhere to deadlines is highly valued
  • Highly driven, organized and able to work independently with little guidance
  • Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A high degree of professionalism and discretion is required.

Occasional travel may be necessary.
