SENIOR Public Policy Analyst (FT)

Emerging Markets Political Risk Analysis – EMPRA, S.C. is looking for a new Senior Policy Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will work on matters pertaining to energy, technology, and other policy areas relevant to Mexico. The policy analyst will participate in client meetings and the production of daily, weekly, and monthly reporting. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and complete daily, weekly, and monthly reporting on a variety of public policy topics including energy, technology, telecommunications, and infrastructure, among others.
  • Manage publications in coverage area.
  • Work with the politics team to analyze current events and produce comprehensive analysis of them.
  • Cover general politics-related topics, when necessary.
  • Monitor current events.
  • Facilitate the completion of research projects into new areas by developing sources, identifying trends, and conducting interviews.
  • Speak with clients to provide in-depth, subject-specific analysis of current events, trends, and risks.
  • Manage a team of analysts and/or interns (when applicable)
  • Periodically research and report on other areas including the energy sector, public security and rule of law.
  • Assist the Head of Research in efforts to expand areas of coverage and to develop new publications to facilitate the delivery of information and intelligence to clients.
  • Develop a continuously expanding network of contacts.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, political science, journalism, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience dealing with public policy (either developing it or analyzing it).
  • Excellent writing skills and previous research experience are required.
  • Knowledge of Mexican politics and public policy matters in the country.
  • Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Comfortability working with other people and managing colleagues.
  • Previous research experience.
  • Excellent English, including the ability to draft and edit documents in English.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.

Favored Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in political science, public policy, economics or a related field.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Prior experience in consulting or economic journalism.

 

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with experience
